The city of Leipzig boasts a density of composers’ houses and classical music sites that is unique in Europe. 23 of these sites are now connected by a five-kilometre “Leipzig Music Trail” through the city centre. The new musical trail will be inaugurated on May 12, 2012 with a big festival titled “Music Moves the City”.
It is impossible to imagine Leipzig on the Whitsun weekend without thousands of people dressed in black, pouring into the city for the Wave-Gotik-Treffen.
From 16 to 22 May, Wagner’s native city will put its cultural focus on the composer with a number of concerts and events.

The 2012 Bach Medal, awarded by the city of Leipzig, will be presented to the Japanese conductor and organist Masaaki Suzuki on June 8, at a ceremony during the Leipzig Bach Festival.
Between May 9 and June 3, 2012, 37 artists of the city will present works at the 19th Leipzig Annual Exhibition titled “Unterwegs” (On the Road).
