Activities and projects between the twin cities Leipzig and Bologna (Italy)

School partnerships: between the professional training centre Berufliches Schulzentrum 6 (construction technology) and partner school Instituti Aldini-Valeriani; the Paul Robeson school and the 71st school have contacts to Bologna.

Exchanges between the universities of both cities go back to before 1990.

Cooperation between the departments of Romance languages, linguistics and translation studies as well as through the European student exchange programmes SOKRATES and ERASMUS.

In 1999 contacts were initiated between Leipzig's University of Applied Sciences (Department for Social Studies) and the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig and the University of Bologna and the German Cultural Institute in Bologna.

February 1998: charity concert in Leipzig’s Mendelssohn house for the victims of the earthquake in Umbria (pianist Umberto Martinelli, musical director of the German Cultural Institute in Bologna).

Presentation of Leipzig in Bologna with the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the Chamber of Handicrafts, trade fair operator Leipziger Messe, and Leipzig Tourist Service (October 1996).
