As every year, Leipzig will show its dark side again at Whitsun 2011, when some 20,000 visitors from around the world are expected at the Wave-Gotik-Treffen. The festival, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, will be held from 9th to 13th June 2011. With nearly 100 concerts and a many supporting events, it is one of the biggest of its kind. While the festival venues are spread throughout the city, the camping site and main festival grounds will once again be located at agra-Park in Markkleeberg.

Besides the music festival, there will be book readings, club parties, church concerts, medieval markets and live role-playing games. The festival ticket will buy you admission to all events and free rides on the trams and busses of Leipzig's public transport company LVB. An additional ticket will be required for use of the camping site.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the festival, there will be an opening concert with many bands that played at the first Wave-Gotik-Treffen in 1992. The opening concert will take place prior to the festival on 9th June 2011 at agra-Park, and include a performance by "Love Like Blood" who will play their first and only concert since 1999.
