17 – Former Supreme Court of the Empire / |
In 1895, the monumental building of the former Supreme Court of the Empire became the prestigious home of the supreme German court for criminal and civil law, which had been located in Leipzig since 1879.
After the 2nd World War, it housed the Museum of Fine Arts, which is moving to the Museum's new building on Katharinenstrasse.
After extensive reconstruction, the former Supreme Court of the Empire has been returned to its old use in 2002. And returning to Leipzig has been the Federal Administrative Court, part of the supreme German judicial authority.
